The first seasonal episode of “RTTR Volley”, the weekly magazine of the broadcasting station in via Zanella dedicated to Trentino Volley, focused the attention on one of the most beloved and anticipated players: the setter Simone Giannelli. The famous Simo didn’t disappointed the expectations, completely telling his history; here we have some of the most interesting passages.
SUPER CUP. “Although the final score was negative, I’m confident for the future because I strongly believe that this team is a good one. In the semi-final against Modena we lost badly the fourth set, but we could have won it, reopening the match, and that’s the biggest regret. We always say that the matches are the best training possible and having played two of them in the last weekend was beneficial; at the same time, the non-official friendly match against Padova of Thursday evening at PalaTrento will be useful".
SUPERLEAGUE. “The championship starting on Sunday will be even more beautiful and balanced than the previous ones because, beyond the usual four or five teams, this summer Verona and Piacenza got stronger too. In this season, you couldn’t take for granted any match and this will make every challenge exciting and full of risks. If I have to say a name, I would say Perugia because this team got very stronger”.
100 MATCHES WITH TRENTINO VOLLEY. “Until this afternoon, when I’ve read on Trentino Volley’s website the dedicated news, I didn’t realized I’ve had played so many matches. I was surprised because they are a lot, but I hope to play just as many and to go on together with Lanza, who reached 200. I remember very well the first official match I’ve played, it was in Ravenna at the beginnings of the 2013/14 championship; I entered in the place of Sintini to raise the block and we succeeded in winning the point. A beautiful moment”.
THE GROUP. “We are a young team, we have a potential and important growth margins; as compared to last year we have changed only few players but there’s a new coach, so in a certain sense we have to start from the beginning. Lorenzetti is a very experienced coach; I get on very well with him because every day I learn something new I’ve never considered before. I like the way he trains and I like our group, because it has many elements that don’t dominate each other and work in order not to enter into conflict. In the confidence my teammates instill I find the ability not to be authoritarian even if I’m still young; I live everything with carefreeness. We can succeed in every competition, it would be amazing winning the CEV Cup, which Trentino Volley were so closed to win in 2015, but at the beginnings of the championship the words don’t count: only actions count”.
RIO 2016. “It was an amazing experience; I wish all players could live it one day. It helped me growing not only as a player, but also as a person and then, confronting with the best setters of the world taught me a lot; I followed the top player with my same role in order to steal them some secrets and I’m glad our National Team engaged millions of Italians in the volleyball. What’s important now is that this silver wave won’t finishes too early”.
